Uncle Sam and Cousin Columbia are totally nonplussed and disgusted at how Secretary of State John Kerry allows himself to be totally deceived by the Iranian regime. Nevertheless they are not surprised; they are perfectly aware that, like his boss, the S of S is an immature child who prefers to play with his teddy bear, the global warming non-issue, rather than to deal responsibly with the many very real crises now threatening the world.

Senator Thomas Stanley Matthews (R-OH), had a law approved which was very controversial. Thomas Nast regarded it as a trap, and drew a series of cartoons in which Uncle Sam has his leg caught in that trap.
There is no doubt that the ,,Affordable'' Care Act is one big trap, so I followed Nast's original idea and rendered the fanged mouth of Barack the Bad into a trap that has nearly crushed the leg of poor Uncle Sam. I truly pray that that genius of the political cartoon may appreciate my tribute to his very clever idea.
The Glory Of Saint Joseph
For years I have been intrigued with the subject of the death of Saint Joseph, and have considered several ways to depict it, including an ascension in the style of the Ascension and the Assumption.
Today's image represents Joseph on his deathbed, accompanied by Mary and Jesus. His ancestor, King David, dressed in royal purple, prepares for him a kingly crown decorated with rubies and pearls arranged so that they resemble a Magen David. Samuel gets ready the holy oil to anoint Joseph as king, while Gabriel holds his saw and the harp of David. God the Father--hands with triangles--and God the Holy Spirit--wings of doves--give Their blessing.
Christmas Is Getting Close
Christmas is getting close, so my submissions of 23 August and 28 August refer to that fact.
The angel warning Saint Joseph about the sanguinary intentions of Herod alludes to the tragic events following the Adoration of the Magi, when the Holy Family will have to escape to Egypt, and Herod will vent his frustrated rage upon the Holy Innocents, the first martyrs for Christ. The setting looks very homey for a stable precisely to make the point of how the lives of Joseph and his family will be disrupted by extraordinary events.
